Beyond the Threshold
Beyond the Threshold, September 20- January 11
Very pleased to be showing new geo-specific work at Beyond the Threshold at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, an exhibition filled with beautifully crafted works exploring the concept of home. Thanks to curators Denis Longchamps, Peter Flannery, and Cheyenne Mapplebeck and Abisola Oni for thoughtful words in the catalogue.
Second slide beauty work by Mohammad Tabesh.
My work, Knee wall was made with a combination of local foraged clay, reclaim clay and other studio debris such as metal filings and broken ceramic work.
“Home, as embodied by Bowie’s sculpture, is not a fixed structure but a living, materialized connection to the earth. The work asserts that the materials of our world, the soil, clay, stone, and plant, are as integral to an understanding of home as the walls we build by manipulating them, inviting a more ethical understanding of belonging.” Abisola Oni
